Boy Kills World
Plot
In a dystopian future. A young Boy (Nicholas and Cameron Crovetti) sees his mother killed in front of him in a tradition of The Culling (Not Izzi Dame's Culling something much worse) where 12 people are picked by the crimes they have committed & killed by the Van Der Koy family namely Hilda (Famke Jansson) but there is also her brother Gideon (Brett Gelman) sister Melanie (Michelle Dockery) her husband Glen (Sharlito Copley) as well as enforcer June 27 (Jessica Rothe.) Boy is left for dead but is mute & deaf. the Shaman (voiced by Francois Chau & played by Yayan Ruhian) trains boy heals him & trains him for the day he exacts his revenge.
Pros
Bill Skarsgard is one of those actors where he has many strengths no weaknesses. Make him a horror villain he'll make it his own, give him an action movie he'll tear the movie (House) down. he is brilliant even better cause he cant speak in the movie at all. And who knew he has those type of muscles.
I have known of Jessica Rothe since Happy Death Day but i think she missed her calling as an action star. thoroughly entertaining and she delivers an solid & later emotional performance
the entire family is a mixture of aggressive, cowardly, psychotic. the movie just described my entire family. so yeah thats accurate
the action is very good, with Skarsgard looking like he's been doing it all of his life
There is so much blood oh to be reminded of the Raid 🙂
the intense fights & the choreography are impressive
i love the endless volence
And btw the fact that they got Yayan Ruhian impresses me most as he is one of my favourite martial artists and the fact that Bill & Jessica will have had to train harder then they usually do as he is quick do not let his age decieve you he's still quick with his hands and feet.
the last fight between June 27 & Boy vs Shaman i got Raid flashbacks i even got the tense music when Yayan was in his finish him stage.
Cons
There is the matter of the script is really bad
the 2 narrations of H Jon Benjamin's Boy & François Chau's Shaman for me are bad. you couldve had one of Bill's brothers do the voice for him & just let Yayan speak his native tongue
alot of the Van der Koy's feel like they arent trying.
Andrew Koji's character baffles me
there's meant to be dark humour in it some is ok the rest is just "Nah"
this does feel like another version of The Hunger Games or anything like it in the that genre
there is more but cant think of anymore
verdict
Not marketed very well but definitely happy to put it in the same conversation as The Raid to a degree.

Project Hail Mary
The year is 2032, Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) wakes up from his induced coma with no idea what, why, who or where he is. He does find out he is on the Hail Mary, a spacecraft on its way to the Tau Ceti system which is 11.9 light years from earth. turns out the Tau Ceti system is the only system where its sun isnt dying & Grace is there to find out why that is so.
Pros
Ryan Gosling is absolutely nails everything you would expect as he is just the only one we really see everyone else is in flashbacks and he anchors the movie brilliantly with humour, emotion everything.
Rocky is just one of those characters that grows on you or annoys you. for me its grows i was kinda sad when he & Rocky went their separate ways
Rocky although unique in design is brought brilliantly to life
Everything about this movie is not perfect but whatever is below perfect cause its just brillaint in everything manner from direction to writing to cinematography to effects. it's just brilliant
as a sci-fi fan i didnt find any scientific talk to hard to comprehend.
the cinematography is just brilliant
the effects are just brillaint
Soundtrack is one of the best ive heard since i started reviewing again.
Phil Lord & Chris miller have done a brilliant job
Cons
Just because i found sci fi lingo easy doesn't mean everyone else did
2 hours 40 is abit of a long watch
plus its a long watch without losing interest which some will cause it does drag
it's based on a book so not much leigh way

They Will Kill You
Plot
Fresh out of jail Asia Reeves (Zazie Beetz) gets a job as a housemaid at a high rise building in New York City. while there she is attacked and manage to hold the attackers off but unfortunately that isnt the end of her job from hell.
Pros
Zazie Beets is brilliant for this movie, she anchors the movie while going between psychotic woman & absolutely dumbfounded protagonist
everyone else is just cannon fodder so not much there
The change of lighting the noises the shadowy figure in the distance are brilliant
the music is brilliant the Halloween style music & the soundtrack in it is definitely
there is alot of fake blood which as an Evil Dead fan & horror purist i f**king love
the amount of killing well kinda killing is not brilliant and sometimes even over the top but tis brilliant.
the twists are explained easily enough & in flashback which doesnt defer from the pacing
cons
the antagonists are abit stupid even with immortality. "we need her alive" after trying to stab her with a machete & shoot her with a double barrelled shotgun.
There are parts where it feels abit too much like Ready or Not. Not the sequel the original as i have seen Ready or Not 2 at the time of this review.
Not sure Patricia Arquette's irish accent is irish enough tbh

Plot
Ana Santos (Camila Mendes) lives in NYC with her sister & brother in aw has dreamed of working in the arts. unfortunately trying to impress her boss Claire (Marisa Tomei) who makes Simon cowell look like Simon Amstell. so after saving Claire from an embarrassment. she tells her shes going to London. unfortunately Claire's bitchy & melodramatic assistants Suzanne (Rachel Matthews) as Suzette & Renee (Fola Evans-Akingbola.) decide to make her life hell at the airport starting with Sabotaging her flight,. fortunately for her the woman at the flight desk feels sorry for her & upgrades her to first class on her flight. while there she meets William (Archie Renaux) so will she find love while surviving her boss & her bitchy assistants?
Pros
I love Camila Mendes, she has a certain likeability (doing my best to forget the hilarious He-Man press tour while reviewing this.) i will say i sympathise with her character especially with Suzanne & Renee
I absolutely love Marisa Tomei in this. so overdramatic very comedic and steal every scenes she's in
Rachel Matthews & Fola Evans-Akingbola play Suzette & Renee to the point you either hope Karma comes around or Claire shuts them down with immediate prejudice.
It's nice to see Archie Renaux be attracted to something other then Xenomorphs, but he has that charm that makes the ladies go "Helloooo"
Lena Olin is the star of the show, she is the life of the movie. its nice cause when i usually see her her character is killing someone so nice change.
It was nice to see Anthony Head give how he recently bless RIP Giles
there is some great comedy in it, made me laugh
the flirting is great made me smile a point everyone misses the point of in the genre.
cons
the whole "woman has a job, tries to impress doing the job, meets a hunky guy, falls for hunky guy uses him for whatever the reason is, he feels betrayed & leaves. time goes by near the end they reconcile & fall in love" sound familiar.
It does feel like another version of Devil Wears Prada only Marisa Tomei is no Meryl Streep
i know this whole movie relies on lying but there comes a point where it needs to ease up or for the relationships sake there needs to be a cut off point but that hole just gets bigger.
and that is the problem, camila Mendes is a actress you want to get behind but her character makes it impossible.
I've seen enough leads in rom-coms to know whether they are a good fit. Camila & Archie are no Benjamin Walker & Teresa Palmer.
All rom-coms are predictable this is no different
basically the whole movie is about lying to get what you want with no remorse & no consequences, but for me we have it enough in reality we dont need to be reminded about it in rom-coms.
the ending is bad & the writing is lazy
verdict
I agree with some of the movie. the actors the romance i definitely dont agree with alot of it having a bad ending lazy plot and Camila's character is abit of do we like her dont we like her? is it worth watching? im not entirely sure tbh i wont watch it again

Pretty Lethal
A dysfunctional ballet troupe on route to Budapest consisting of Bones (Maddie Ziegler) Princess (Lana Condor) Zoe (Iris Apatow) Chloe (Millicent Simmonds) & Grace (Avantika.) takes shelter after their bus breaks down and they are forced to take shelter in a bar ran by Devora Kasimer (Uma Thurman) If only that was the case.
Pros
i will say i know how difficult ballet dancing is just from the fact you have to stand on your tip toes for long periods of time so kudos to Maddie, Lana, iris, Millicent & Avantika for all the training they had to go through. as well as combine all the training they had to do. probably what Natalie
i like the choreography but its not perfect.
but Maddie is the standout as well as Uma Thurman having a redemption for her villain arc.
I like how not just at the start there is a problem between Princess & Bones but it goes from being a problem to having to put it aside while still having a problem.
Grace being high is probably the funniest part of the movie
i love the Ballet Fu more dramatic then Gun Fu but not as fun
the music is tense & suspenseful
whoever thought a fight scene with "The Nutcracker" would work so well
music is brilliant Rhythm is a dancer
Cons
i do love Lana Condor in this but she is so annoying
i hate the fact that the title is shown 18 minutes in that is the first or last thing you see not the 30th.
it's nothing on John Wick so dont expect that level of fights but its still good
Ballerinas kill gangsters yeah thats the kind of movie it is dont question it go with it

Suffering from intermittent explosive disorder. Lindy Lewis (Kate Beckinsale) Who has a sort of cure in a shock vest to her condition but isnt as good as she wishes. Her psychiatrist Dr. Ivan Munchin (Stanley Tucci) who came up with her cure suggests she try a relationship as another form of treatment. (ok i see why.) so she has a date with Justin (Jai Courtney) unfortunately he passes soon after & Lindy decides to investigate his murder herself.
Pros
Kate Beckinsale absolutely nails this role & has a certain likeability to her. As a guy who deals with something he can control i can sympathise.
Stanley Tucci is Stanley Tucci just enjoy him & at times sympathise
I enjoyed the comedy aspect whereas Kate is happy or the
i do love the thought mechanism of what is going through her head when the limit is reached. cant lie had a few of them myself.
i love how we are shown what treatments Lindy has tried and how its failed
the pace is constant
i do like the fight scenes even if they are below what i expect
cons
it's a movie that requires no thinking just enjoyment so overthinkers need not watch
writing isnt great but does any movie have great writing?
some logic is abit head scratching like how did Delacroix know Lindy would climb the building?
it does feel like some scenes are abit quick
There are more but that is all comes to mind at this point
Verdict
some have said this is a derivative copycat of Crank. erm hold on
is the lead dying? No
does she have to keep her heart beating by adrenaline rush? No
does the lead have a battery attached to her heart? No

The Wrong Paris
PLOT
Dawn (Miranda Cosgrove), is accepted into an Paris art school however financial aid, is out of the question. However she joins a reality dating show called the Honey Pot. she believes its in Paris france which would eliminate 1 problem, however the Paris she ends up going to is in Texas. desperate to get out of it she unfortunately encounters the problem of falling for the guy who is the prize. Trey McAllen (Pierson Forde)
Pros
Miranda Cosgrove is like a big shining beacon of happiness that smiles so which makes her perfect for a movie like this. everyone wants to like someone they can get behind. you can get behind Miranda in anything.
Pierson Fode definitely answers the questions that some people have on their minds. do you want a cowboy?
But Pierson & Miranda definitely have chemistry.
Love everyones reaction to the twist of Paris Texas instead of Paris france.
do love the soundtrack
How everyone deals with the unexpected situations like scooping up shit lol
plenty of facepalm moments
plenty of comedy moments
that finale overlooking the eiffel tower is probably as good as you can get from a romance point of view
the photo album & outtakes are great as usual
cons
its not for everyone.
some of the dialogue is god awful
Some of the chat up lines are so bad even the Ogs wouldnt use them. Well Akila or Alan might.
some of the camerawork is almost amateur.
it's just like every reality dating show, boring laughable, dramatic. plus im not sure that noone who goes there doesnt want to be there?
im not a lawyer but im sure youre meant to stay on the site youre filminf o
tell me if you have heard this before
woman is in an impossible situation
Family/friends get her to do something to accomplish said goal
even though there is eyes on the prize a guy or gal complicate things by developing feelings for a guy or gal
the guy she falls for is charming handsome despite the fact she denies it
instead of one impossible dilemma there is 2.
choose between the objective what you went for or get the guy or gal.
something happens where the love birds are estranged but end up being a couple at the end.
isnt that the formula in every rom-com?

Run Hide Fight
plot
It follows Zoe Hull (Isabel May) who's relationship with her dad (Thomas Jane) well isnt the greatest cause of her mum (Radha Mitchell) passing away so she hates everyone & everything. At school after a van crashes into the school cafeteria. it becomes a life or death situation which Zoe isnt fazed by cause her dad is a hunter & has been training her in survival and hunting.
pros
Isabel May greatly plays an angry teen dealing with death of the most important thing in her life and then facing death in the eye. she leads the movie brilliantly. Probably the reason why she was selected to play Tatum Evans in Scream 7.
i like Radha Mitchell in this, being giving Zoe advice while guiding her through the life and death situation she finds her in.
Thomas Jane not in much but he still brings what i love him for to the table ok minus the punisher part.
There is always something happening within a few minutes of the last something happening so boredom is not at the forefront
story is good
it keeps you gripped throughout
it's low budget but everything is done not brilliantly but alot better then some movie
cons
for some the plot is too close to home so understandable for that reason
i doubt 4 incendiary devices being let off is worthy of all the attention of the emergency services which 1 of the many plotholes & severe illogical moves in this movie.
film has a history of always having a big number of bad guys die hard had i think over 7 why is there only 4 here.
not much in terms of character development only Zoe does as she is dealing with trauma
All the villains except Anna are laughable. Tristan is a piss poor attempt at Heath Ledgers Joker, Kip looks like a very less scary Andre the giant & Chris is literally a stormtrooper mixed with Karl from Die Hard. (cant shoot for shit & doesnt stick to the plan) so you have 3 villains
critics have pissed on it because every movie has to have a message or a narrative. why? this is why i can be trusted and they cant.

MICKEY 17
MICKEY 17 (2025)
Plot
In the year 2050, Mickey (Robert Pattinson) and his friend Timo (Steven Yeun) join a colony ship heading to the frozen planet Niflheim. While Timo becomes a pilot, Mickey signs up as an "Expendable" — a worker assigned the jobs nobody else wants to do.
Whether it's dangerous scientific experiments, exposure to deadly environments, or other missions with little chance of survival, Mickey's role is simple: die if necessary. Every time he does, a new clone is printed with his memories restored.
Four years into the mission, Mickey 17 survives an incident where he was presumed dead. Unfortunately for him, Mickey 18 has already been printed.
Now there are two Mickeys.
Pros
• Robert Pattinson's narration is excellent and helps carry the story through its many twists and turns.
• Pattinson shines in the dual-role performance. The interactions between Mickey 17 and Mickey 18 are easily the film's biggest strength.
• Life aboard the colony ship is fascinating. Everyone has strict rules about what they can and can't do, making the social dynamics engaging. Naturally, someone eventually breaks one of those rules.
• I liked that even after humanity leaves Earth, Earth's problems still find a way to follow them.
• The production design is fantastic. The ship, technology, and frozen world all feel believable and lived-in.
• The "Expendable" concept is genuinely fascinating. It raises interesting questions about how society might treat a real-life human canary if one existed.
• A box office failure doesn't automatically make a film bad. This movie deserves more credit than its financial performance suggests.
Cons
• Bong Joon-ho's football fandom is obvious. Mickey 17 appears to be named after Kevin De Bruyne's squad number, security agent Kai resembles a tribute to Kai Havertz, and Timo appears inspired by Timo Werner. Tributes are fine, but changing character names and even the title from the original source material feels unnecessary.
• Mark Ruffalo's character never worked for me as a villain. Eventually he became less threatening and more like an annoying spot that keeps growing and won't go away.
• Toni Collette's character isn't far behind in that regard.
• I expected a deeper exploration of cloning, its advantages, disadvantages, and moral dilemmas. The film starts there but seems to lose focus.
• I haven't seen Parasite, but based on its reputation I expected something with stronger themes and emotional resonance.
• The pacing feels inconsistent. Like many modern films, it often swings between too much happening and not enough happening. I wanted something more balanced.
• Some directors become victims of their own success. When you've made a masterpiece, audiences expect every future film to reach that same level. James Cameron and Quentin Tarantino face this issue too. This is a good film, but not a brilliant one in the way Parasite is often described.
• At times the film feels more interested in satirising certain political leaders than exploring its strongest science-fiction ideas. One inspiration is particularly obvious from appearance alone.
• The central premise reminded me of Star Trek: The Original Series episode "The Enemy Within" — the idea of two versions of the same person forced to coexist.
Verdict
A box office failure does not automatically mean a movie is a failure.
Mickey 17 has plenty of flaws, misses opportunities to explore some of its most interesting ideas, and occasionally struggles with pacing and satire. However, Robert Pattinson's performance, the world-building, and the Expendable concept make it a thoroughly worthwhile watch.
It may not reach the heights many expected from Bong Joon-ho after Parasite, but it's still a good movie.

There is but a guy in a suit (William Fichtner) ends up using hypnotic suggestion to his advantage & nearly to the downfall of Rourke. But what is it that causes the guy to have hypnotic suggestion & what does Diana Cruz (Alice Braga) have to do with this?
Pros
Ben Affleck is decent he's a lead for a reason but Braga & Fichtner are the stars
Hala Finley is both lovely and deadly and its genuinely frightening
i like the unpredictability of the movie some of the things i wasnt expecting
and seeing a major piece of unpredictability in action
Robert Rodriguez has a great concept
cons
it does go rather quickly
the unpredictability although good can be abit fustrating at times

In a future where androids have become lifelike & do the same things humans do. Nick (Michele Morrone) has a wife who is a heart condition and his 2 young kids. he finds himself overwhelmed so he purchases a gynoid or a female android who is named Alice (Megan Fox) by his daughter. Although she is helpful this is an android that develops emotions. so what do you think is gonna happen?
pros
Well Megan Fox is the breakout she is absolutely brilliant so brilliant infact i dont think if youd have asked me who would be a good choice i wouldnt have said Megan. But bravo Megan bravo and thats before we get to the Jennifer's Body part of Alice.
never seen Michele Morrone in a movie before, i wasnt expecting anything as far as performance goes (i dont judge until ive seen them for the first time.) But i can see why he's held in high regard.
it does raise the question of how much will Ai & androids take over in the future.
as someone who has lost many to cancer i sympathise with Nick's plight
I do love the psychological warfare Alice puts on even if it is 1 sided.
it's tense as hell which you can tell thanks to Michele's performance
cons
right im not gonna criticise the casting of Megan cause im not however if youre getting an android to help you out why would you pick the most beautiful one there? isnt that the same as picking the hottest nanny you can find?
is this different from something like an I Robot or is it exactly the same but with a few differences?
i understand that Alice's reset started something but why is she going straight for the male jugular. (dont question it you'll know when you see it)
there is many plot holes like if they were so eager to fire human workers why were the androids locked away at night instead of going the Kinks route of all day and all of the night? you know things like that.
it is abit slow at times with uneven pacing
I've heard better music tbh
they had a good idea for a sequel but they shouldnt do one & they probably wont.
the ending was too much the ending of any of the first 3 terminators.

So Connor flees & finds Hannah. will they survive?
Pros
acting wise Angelina Jolie delivers on a woman suffering PTSD & Survivor guilt she seals it on so many levels
Aiden Gillen well we're talking about Lord Beylish from Game of Thrones so what else would you have him do. btw not as evil as he is in that or Blitz but still good
Nick Hoult not his Lex Luthor best but still not bad.
Finn Little did so well bless him
Having Taylor Sheridan direct elevates the movie.
the action is decent
it's more for people who dont want a marvel movie a DC movie.
plot is simple & doesnt require thinking at all
cons
Based on a book so not much leighway you can have with it
Seeing smokejumpers in action in an actual situation might have been handy
having the full story behind Hannah's survivors guilt might be handy instead of bits and bobs.

Peaky Blinders
My review of Peaky Blinders The Immortal Man
Plot
The year is 1940 & Nazi Germany has a plan to bankrupt the English economy & with its liaison John Beckett (Tim Roth) plans to use the Peaky Blinders led by Duke Shelby (Barry Keoghan) to deliver that plan. However one can never count against Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy.)
Pros
Well a usual Peaky Blinders story has many things
drink, guns, many angles of a story, characters that are larger then life, music that is breath takingly beautiful, twists & turns and alot of them & a Tommy Shelby kill by deadly means all of which this has.
there is an emotional pull to this as i got emotional about half way through Peaky Blinders fans will understand why i was
we got closure on alot of characters from the tv series
we see Tommy Shelby still with old wounds and how deep those cuts are which brings an extra dimension to him & Cillian Murphy is just simply Phemonenal
as for the new cast, i love Rebecca Ferguson as Kaulo and Zelda, identical twins but sharing 1 body. just brilliant how she plays her
Barry Keoghan beings an almost psycho feel to Duke Thomas's son
there is a nice tribute at the end.
soundtrack is even better then when i heard it earlier in the year.
Cons
They couldve put in either a series or a few movies instead of cramming it into an hour 50 hence the story feels rushed alot
The minute i heard Tim Roth was in it first thought was he's a villain which he was & then it just seemed he had the easy way out
the pacing isnt as good as the tv show
at the end you expect more and maybe a plot twist but it never comes.
I watched them all from Season 1 Episode 1 up until Season 6 Episode 6 the day before the movie released & if you do that, you notice how different it is mostly bad. rather then someone who saw them on release date
Verdict
i find myself at a crossroads, it has alot of the traits that made me love the series but when you watch the entire series from start to finish then watch the movie the day after like i did, it is missing alot & it isnt what i thought it was gonna be.
And on another note, i went to a listening party of the movies soundtrack which had Antony Glen & Martin Slattery there who did the music for the movie. i told him i would watch the entire series and watch the movie one directly after another in i think it was 5 weeks which i did so i would like to let him know that i did what i said i would do.

5 chapters revolving around a $1,000,000 Lakota ghost shirt with local outsiders & outcasts. Involving but not limited to a son his mother & her B/F (Gavin Maddox Bergman, Halsey & Eric Dane) & Military vet Lefty Ledbetter & waitress Penny Jo Poplin (Paul Walter Hauser & Sydney Sweeney.)
pros
Is quite funny at times (a native American indian trying to argue with a kid is hilarious.)
Halsey is the star of the movie for me
Paul Walter Hauser & Sydney im on the fence about
i like the chapter format Weapons has made me a fan of this format for the most part.
the setting of South Dakota & Wyoming is perfect for the movie
Script is good in places
Shoot out 40odd minutes from the end isnt bad although its made better by the fact arrows move like a whisper in the wind
soundtrack is good
Cons
it will forever be known as the movie that bombed because of Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle controversy. which isnt what you want your movie to be known by
The "iam the reincarnation of Sitting Bull" gets old very quickly.
as soon as Halsey leaves Eric Dane the movie goes from good to barely watchable
Script is shit in places
not every chapter is the same time which isnt great
ive seen many different movies where everyone is after 1 item, this isnt even in my top 10.
Verdict
Not the best western i've seen compared to say Unforgiven or Magnificent 7 new one not the older one. But it didnt deserve to bomb & i think it is better then the reputation it has but once is enough for me with this.

The Killer
My review of The Killer
Plot
Zee (Natalie Emmanuel) is a contract killer who dresses more fashionable then average person in fashion & works for Finn (Sam Worthington) who works for drug lord Jules Gobert (Eric Cantona.) On her job in Marseilles. she shoots & stabs everything in the club except singer Jenn Clark (Diana Silvers) which breaks the "kill everyone in the club" rule even if she is blind. so Finn orders her to set things right which doesn't happen now she is pursued by Finn and everyone in that organisation & French Inspector Sey (Omar Sy.)
pros
its set in paris so at least we get a great city which has been used for great movies like Inception & Ronin.
Brian Helgeland has written the screenplay who also wrote Mystic River & LA Confidential so you have someone reliable.
This is Natalie Emmanuel's audition for the action world which she passes with flying colours
it's always great to see the late great Tchéky Karyo in any role & he is here playing Zee's Tailor.
Do like the camera work & how it cuts from scene to scene.
btw the fashion in this movie is great as well as the places in a outfit/dress you can hide a sword.
cons
it's based on the 1989 movie The Killer which also was directed by John Woo & starred Chow Yun-Fat. i havent seen it but remakes of asian movies never go well i dont need to say it history says it with the exception of The Departed which is a remake of Internal Affairs which is a masterpiece.
from a John Woo movie you expect more then you get here especially since John Wick upped the bar for movies of this sort
i cannot take Eric Cantona as a villian in this particularly after all the football ads i remember him in "Au Revoir" raises his collar shoots a shot at a goal that goes through the Devil keeper's chest there was more intent & villainy in that advert then there is of him in this movie.
its uneven in its pacing
no proper development of anyone
its too long at 2 hours 5
there is alot wrong with it minus the above but John Woo should be associated with classics not trying to outdo his original movies. please god do not do a face-off remake please god no
verdict
would i give this up for Hard Target, Broken Arrow, Face/Off, Mission: Impossible 2 or Paycheck for. but it does answer an important question. Is Natalie Emmanuel lead potential which is a big yes.

My review of The Collective
Plot
Sam (Lucas Till) is recruited to a mysterious agency of assassins & on his first assignment goes rogue tracking down human traffickers led by Miro (Paul Ben-Victor)
Pros
Lucas Till makes this movie worth watching as does Paul Ben victor 2 guys who never got their chance to lead a movie definitely a sign that disbelief was misplaced on both their parts
cons
Aerial shots take so bloody long & camerawork isnt what youd expect it is
Mercedes Vernado looks like she doesnt want to be there
Either Tyrese's character is miserable or he is being a part of the movie
im sorry all you pack for an assignment is an MP5K 2 handguns & a grenade & 3 clips? where's the Assault rifle the DMR the sniper rifle
the fights are shit they are supposed to be smooth flowing with complete professionalism the first looks messy
the gun effects in the beach shoutout is shit
would a lawyer want to be an assassin?
i thought strike teams were meant to be smart, is it smart for the entire tream to go through the same door and all be killed? whatever happened to multiple entry points?
Did someone activate an unlimited ammo cheat somewhere who knew so much damage could be done with 1 clip
it feels like everything someone wanted to do to make this movie as bad as

MISDIRECTION
My review of MisDirection
Plot
A robber couple (Olga Kurylenko & Oliver Trevena) target a defense attorney (Frank Grillo) as their last job. however what should have been a simple robbery ends up being a more combustible situation then the ending of Ready or not.
Pros
So the story only has 3 leads, Grillo, Kurylenko & Trevena but they succeed in carrying the movie for the entire length
Frank Grillo is Frank Grillo need i say anymore.
Kurylenko goes from confident robber to broken Robber
Trevena goes from tech wiz on an easy job to being put in the middle of a difficult situation & adjusts according.
the tension rises on a steady trajectory so the audience is not overwhelmed
it's in 1 place so filming was probably short,
it's low budget but that isnt a disadvantage
plenty of twists & turns
alittle less is alittle bit more
Cons
You know there is something else when the shit starts hitting the fan & she's like lets stay when they really should get out of dodge.
all the bits that are fustrating are because of where the plot leads.
im sure there is more but thats all that comes to mind.

Together
Plot
Millie Watson & Tim Brassington (real life couple Alison Brie & Dave Franco) take a hike near their home & after falling down into a cave. they camp for the night. however the next morning when they wake up. they realise something horrifying has happened.
pros
so let me start with the leads the real life couple of Dave Franco & Alison Brie. absolutely superb in every aspect, cannot praise them enough.
Michael Shanks in his directing debut does a bang up job with his direction while making sure the relationship between Brie & Franco isnt the see all end all.
shows how relationships could be as a guy who's been on the end of some of the things in the film i can relate.
the dragging of the bodies at night (or in Alison's case the Bray Wyatt Spider walk) is absolutely terrifying as well as the attraction to them every time they are near each other as the movie goes on.
definitely 1 part in particular is very cringeworthy for the gents
the cgi i hate but it is necessary for the end
cons
the cgi kills all the momentum and makes it very anti climatic
the horror part is all small with nothing like to take it to that next level
everything is very slow some horror is always going fast from one to another this is just too slow you just want it to carry on and on
verdict Brie & Franco make this movie worth while. Its a beginners for body horror cause its not as graphic as the Substance but it has its moments. PS the substance which i think is brilliant so worth a watch definitely.

The Bluff
My review of The Bluff
The Bluff
Streaming Y as part of a Priyanka Chopra Marathon yes otherwise no Maybe N/A a mixture of good and lame so Disclaim worth a watch
Plot
the year is 1846, out of the game pirate Ercell Bodden (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) lives on a remote island with her family. when 1 day Captain Connor (Karl Urban) who harbours a grudge against her decides to pay her a visit. unfortunately the visit isnt as easy as he hoped it would be
Pro
Priyanka Chopra leads well as does Karl Urban do better with Villain material then he did in chronicles of Riddick.
action a plenty as you expect by the Russo brothers
plenty of blood and the cannon through the chest is a nice touch
Temuera Morrison is solid as Connor's second in command Q
cons
Nothing really is asked of the leads to go overboard with
too many guns used not enough sword fights
some questionable intelligence as per usual
There are better pirate movies out there POTC COTBP for a start
its a pirate movie so there isnt really much you can do in terms of what you can do. All pirate movies are the same 2 parties fighting over treasure which is exactly what this is only more bloody
I love Priyanka i really do but why when i watched this do i get Citadel vibes which aside from the setting & some details is practically the same thing.
the trailer makes it out to be better then it actually is

My review of Worldbreaker
Plot
After monsters known as Breakers emerge from an opening to an another dimension called the "Stitch" & either kill or turn the men in the world. Willa (Billie Boullet) is kept safe & trained on an isolated island by her dad (Luke Evans) while her mum (Milla Jovovich) leads the good fight against them
Pros
Billie Boullet is really believable, someone who possibly has a bright future if she gets a right role
Luke Evans & Milla Jovovich are strong leads but when you watch the movie its a case of "what were they thinking"
Luke Evans is a brilliant narrator
love the setting which is in Northern Ireland i believe
i like the father daughter main part of the movie in a world where men are the endangered species
Cons
when a movie has plot details of at least 2 or 3 maybe separate already established franchises there maybe more but either way it shows a lack of originality.
i was expecting more then there actually is
I'm sick and tired of movies where there are kids & teenagers where they want to save everyone even in a world ending or on the brink of extinction affair, instead of focusing on their own survival where their parents know alot more
that training course hold on wasn't there 1 like it in Stranger things Season 5?
Whereas i appreciate the sound of Dragonzord from Power Rangers and the nostalgia factor it brings. it again shows lack of imagination it was almost like they went through x amount of monster noises and they went with one that is over 30 years old.
the villains of the piece are barely seen. put it this way, a quiet place we see them alot this not so much & from a far which means you miss the point of a villain.
script is shit
the direction is bad
pacing is so slow it makes Bullet time look quick
Verdict its a movie that feels like Pacific Rim meets an english Starship Troopers meets 28 days later with the voice of a Dragonzord as a baddie. it feels like its just a movie with a load of recycled ideas. watching it once was enough would not recommend this even with a gun to my head

My review of 1987's Masters of the Universe
Master of the Universe 1987
Plot
On the Planet Eternia, to avoid certain death. He-Man (Dolph Lundgren) escapes to earth with Teela (Chelsea Field) Man-At-Arms (Jon Cypher) & Gwildor (Billy Barty) using a cosmic key. which they lose but it is found by Julie (Courtney Cox) & Kevin (a pre Star Trek Voyager Robert Duncan McNeill) who end up are being terrorised by forces loyal to Skeletor (Frank Langella) But they need to get back home before moonrise otherwise their beloved Sorceress (Christina Pickles) will perish & Skeletor will become a god.
Pros
Peter brooks intro is so brilliant honestly the titles hold up well
Frank Langella is absolutely brilliant his pounding of the staff at the beginning the "how noble of you" the anger just brilliant comparable to Raul Julia's M Bison in Street Fighter. movie is garbage but worth watching
Meg Foster's eyes are the most terrifying thing in this movie
even thought the music is done by many different orchestra it somehow works somehow it all works
i do find the eating chicken scene abit funny
I like the psychology Evil Lyn does with Julie
despite all the backlash to it the question from Skeletor to He-Man "Tell me about the loneliness of good, He-Man. Is it equal to the loneliness of evil?") is in the Injustice vs Masters of the Universe which is a comic book crossover in the Injustice franchise allbeit slightly reworded in 2019. So it cant be all that bad?
i do like the Julie's ending though.
The end credits although now doesnt go anywhere is still worth waiting for
Despite what it is. it is meant to be a tribute to Jack Kirby. imagine if he was actually did the sets. i know the possibilities
Cons
a disclaimer i get it it had no budget but still no excuse whatever happened to creativity?
Someone decided lets do a movie where Star Wars mixes with Conan the Barbarian. yeah like that worked for the new adventures of He-Man.
you know how in star wars stormtroopers cant aim. well in this one side lands every shot and the other side misses every shot. And i didnt realise Skeletor has lemmings for crack troopers it's like where do they come from?
the troopers are just Stormtroopers coated in black paint
of all the He-Mans you could have why Dolph Lundgren? this is the guy who terrorised audiences as Ivan Drago and you give him this? i think Dolph shouldve fired his agent.
Courtney is so over the top with her acting it's almost embarassing
James Tolkien is James Tolkien although it does feel he has this character to fill in what there isnt
im sorry but why does Teela keep blaming Gwilder. she does realise that sometimes shit happens
make up & costumes are abit ish & ish. some are good but the problem is in the 80s you had horrors with smaller budgets that made things work, does this? nah
im not sure on alot of the special effects, but the Air centurions are just horrible. particularly as i have seen many Star Wars & Star Trek movies and they are better
Sword Fights are well unorganised messy and feel like you can have a tea break between clattering of swords and staff.
i really hate the fact they decided to place this movie on Earth. it's like you had a tv series to base this movie on could've done anything but you decide to put it on earth. which i hope the new movie doesnt repeat that mistakes.
as a He-man fan you expect Orco, Battlecat cringer Clap-Trap mer-man. etc etc nope not here. why have i bought them up, cause they are part of the source material
Verdict
1 It is one of those so bad its good movies. it has a certain charm for those who like that sort of movies
For an 80s guy like me & back when i first saw it. i thought it was the best thing since sliced bread, but as time has gone on & i look back. i adore the cartoons and Revelation that was released a few years ago. But this should be a reminder of how bad things can be. But still better then the room.

The Rip
My review of The Rip
Plot
After Miami Dade Captain Jackie Velez (Lina Esco) is gunned down by unknown masked gunman. possible suspects are the Tactical Narcotics Team (TNT) comprised of Lt Dane Dumars (Matt Damon), Detective Sergeant JD Byrne (Ben Affleck), as well as Detectives Mike Ro (Steven Yeun), Numa Baptiste (Teyana Taylor) & Lolo Salazar (Caterina Sandino Moreno.) They warrant the house of Desi Lopez (Sasha Calle) after a tip & find something so big they'll be fighting for their lives to enjoy it.
Pros
Affleck & Damon arent the best friends they are usually so its a nice change of pace to see them & their characters not see eye to eye?
Sasha Calle is superb as the honest woman who is in the middle of hell and very relatable & you can an utter lot of sympathy for
the whole movie once the main objective is reached is just dark as hell
The music throughout the movie is nothing but grim
The factor that even as a viewer you dont know who is telling the truth & who isnt is
The IA scene at the beginning is brilliant
there is a scene where Damon tells the different members of his team a different figure of the tip which is a nice way to make it into a whos the snitch.
the killing at the beginning is not brutal brutal but it is brutal & it is unforgiving.
Chris Casiano whos true life events the movie is based on plays 1 of the TNT guys at the beginning
cons
unfortunately the mystery is gone when the phone call comes into it See the different figure of the tip
the movie is mainly about Affleck & Damon everyone else is there just to show the numbers
sure there is more but thats it
not much in terms of action but it is no bog loss not when you have the talent & a good story
verdict
i thoroughly enjoyed it, alot more with the unpredictability that it bought. But i wouldnt trade it for the Departed

Pros
produced by both Bautista Jason Mamoa & The Batman's Matt Reeves who between them know how to do a hit
I love the chaotic Mamoa is paired with the orderly Bautista as brothers & they play off each other brilliantly.
big shoutout to Momoa for being the main source of humour for the movie. i cant remember the last time i laughed so hard at a movie.
action is no John Wick level but its ok
sound track with ZZ top & Guns & Roses need a say more so i wont
Cons
why does everyone have Stormtrooper levels of shooting
Claes Bang couldve been abit of a villain not once did i think he was among the greats or the decent villains
plot twist couldve been abit more interesting
CGI is just a Jeremy Clarkson style no no no no no no no no no no
Verdict
when i saw the trailer i immediately thought of this as a 2020s version of Bad Boys. in fairness it is familiar in alot of ways. is it better? No do i love it for being the way it is yes would i change it abit but no just trust your brilliant non biased reviewer its worth a watch

pros
im not too familiar with Riz Ahmed aside from Venom but its a nice change to see him take the lead & show another side of himself with this same goes with the ever dependable Lily James.
i like how the broker is a chameleon & is more wiswer
having a broker engage a cilent through the tri-state relay service for the deaf is just brilliant particularly as no calls are recorded. which helps add abit of an extra dimension
the whole cat & mouse game at 2 airports is brillaint at it smartly keeps both the characters & the audience guessing. as a result its alot smarter then alot of similar movies
Was featured on the 2019 "Black List" of most-liked unproduced screenplays
cons
It is let down by the so obvious that Lily James's Sarah isnt all she makes out to be at least to someone whos seen enough movies to know better. the poking the prodding the trying to get to know him.

Der Tank
Plot
8 months after the battle of Stalingrad, The German army is in retreat & a 5 man German tiger tank crew led by Lieutenant Philip Gerkens (David Schütter) is sent on a top secret mission behind enemy lines. unfortunately the horrors of war arent the only thing they will experience.
pros
Beginning explains everything you need to know which is good
the cast brilliant
the fights are engaging and give you a real sense of peril including 1 underwater scene which for me is a very big personal fear
the writing is good
the whole cold cramped environment with nowhere to go & noone else to turn to makes even the most non claustrophic person claustrophobic
there are some surprises
its a brutal movie of war so no light hearted bits
its not about being at war its everything else associated with it which makes it unique
cons
The ending is abit of a Kop out i'm not afraid to admit it
English Dub is shit, since it is a german movie use german language in settings makes it alot better

CIA cryptographer Charlie Heller (Remi Malek) receives news that his fiancee Sarah (Rachel Brosnahan) has been killed in london so despite not being trained in combat sets out for revenge.
Pros
Remi Malak just makes this movie,
it just seems he can play any character with believability.
he is allowed to show off his characters 170 IQ very well.
the killings are good & the mumbo jumbo isnt so much that i get lost in it.
its not really a spy movie unless theres shootouts but perfect planning & execution is a nice alternative.
as is the sucking in you get what the character wants the agency to see.
just a nice little night time movie but there is better
cons
It feels ok but the thing is the ending is rushed & i genuinely felt it wouldve been better if it was a disney+ series.
There is no emotional impact cause we're not allowed to feel it due primarily to the fact that Rachel Brosnahan has little to no screen time.
it is based on a book so some wont be happy about it other will be.

plot
Climbing the troll wall in Norway Sasha (Charlize Theron) has to make an impossible decision where she lets her husband Tommy (Eric Bana) fall to his death. 5 months later & still grieving. she heads to Wandarra national park in Australia's outback. unfortunately for her. she is then visited by the guy she met before she went in Wandarra Ben (Taron Egerton) who plays a song on his beetbox then when that song finishes he will hunt her.
pros
Acting is decent but not exactly oscar winning stuff from either & Charlize has an Oscar.
Although big respect to Charlize for doing everything especially the promo in times square she did for the movie.
locations in Australia are just gorgeous
cons
Too many plotholes like why do you leave your main bag, which has your mobile outside
too many dumbass moments we like our movies to have a degree of intelligence in them, this feels like when they decided to write this it was how many times can we just repulse the audience?
The ending mirrors the beginning. loses her husband on a mountain redeems herself by climbing up a mountain .
and when the dumbass moments build up that is when you start to lose interest or care for Sasha.
Its a plot that been reused so many times i didnt really want to watch it to begin with. But someone who shall remain nameless Steve. recommended it and oh boy he owes me for this.
barely any script or decent dialogue
visual effects are shit
heard better soundtracks
Eric Bana for me is still prime acting real estate. why limit him to a cameo hell he couldve played the villian. he was Mark "chopper" Read ffs.
i had enough as soon as she was in the bear trap tbh
It's based on an Richard Connell's 1924 short story "The Most Dangerous Game". fun fact. there is a 1993 movie called Hard Target starring Jean Claude Van Damme, Lance "Bishop" Henrikson & Arnold "Imotep" Vosloo. which is better, more violent, more entertaining & just generally better in everyway then this & guess what also based on that short story.
If you want a movie like Apex theres Sly's Cliffhanger or theres Vertical limit with Chris O'Donnell. both are better then this.
there is more but so annoyed at this movie
Also if you want to experience half decent to decent movies of Baltasar Kormákur. try Contraband, 2 Guns or Everest. This feels like it was this or bust for him.

a couple who arent exactly a couple anymore Kyrah Owens & Isaac Sarr (Kerry Washington & Omar Sy) who happen to be highly trained Assassins formerly in a group called Shadowforce under the watch eye of CIA agent Jack Cinder (Mark Strong.) until they left when Kyrah found out she was pregnant. well unfortunately for them, noone ever leaves Shadowforce if they do a bounty is placed on their heads. so guess what their former team mates are gonna collect.
Honestly there is nothing enjoyable about it
i love Kerry Washington but its like why is she doing this movie?
i dont buy Omar Sy
Mark Strong is one of the best villains in recent movie history yet why is he wasting his time with a movie that litterally could be more but is just an inferior copy of John Wick meets the Bourne Identity.

Frankenstein
My review of Frankenstein (Netflix 2025)
Plot
In the arctic circle, The Royal Danish Ship Horisont, is stuck in ice when they find Victor Frankenstein (Oscar Isaac), a man who has more ego then my entire family. hurt & unconcious, when suddenly they are attacked by a mysterious creature (Jacob Elordi) while they flee from the creature Frankenstein tells his story to the captain (Lars Mikkelson.)
Pros
its in chapters like Zach Snyder's Justice league so its easy to follow like prologue, Victors tale, the creature's tale etc etc
Oscar Isaac exceeds in his role as Victor Frankenstein as does Mia Goth & special mention to Jacob Elordi who plays Frankenstein's monster is so brilliant & love the Brad Pitt inspired "VICTOR"
make up particulary on Elordi isnt what i thought it would be but brilliant & adds something
this feels like Bram Stoker's Dracula or Interview with the Vampire in terms of feel & it is very enjoyable & as i write this. im only half way through it.
I love how it has been made by Del Toro as well. its been done differently & he has shown how brilliantly it can be done.
Dialogue is great love it so much

K Pop Demon Hunters
Review of Kpop Demon Hunters
plot
a Kpop group called Huntr/x made up of Rumi (Arden Cho) Mira (May Hong) & Zoey (Ji-young Yoo) (also mention their singing voices Ejae, Audrey Nuna & Rei Ami) who protect the world from Demons led by Gwi-Ma (Lee Byung-hun)
Pros
The animation is absolutely stunning,
the voice cast is on point,
the singing oh my god is top level to the point i got goosebumps & still do months after watching it.
the action although not John Wick levels is still good,
the twist is revealed early on but it leads into a note of sympathy from the audience & Jinu.
despite the animation it never fails telling the story of there is alot at stake,
the dancing although animated is never lost as being something that cant be danced by the audience. even though the voices are different for dialogue & singing it is irrevalant. i have connected with it on so many levels that it resonates with me. i absolutely freaking love this movie.
Cons
its not for everyone Joe doesnt like it, that means you watch it. Sam doesnt like it what do you expect from someone whos uncultured.
The reason they dont like it is they dont have an emotional attachment in their body. Joe does unless its the godfather or Toy Story & Sam is just emotionless.
Whereas i have im sure there is flaws in it but thing is everything that you see is so exciting that they dont really matter.
Verdict
i went into this not knowing what to expect but for kids its brilliant if you want an introduction to Kpop, this is it if you are someone who cant see the benefit in different genres then this isnt for you. an early contender for Animated movie of the year. ive watched again a few weeks on & my love for this movie is stronger then Star Wars fans affliction for torture.

Rebel Ridge
Rebel Ridge
My review of Rebel Ridge
Plot
So a guy who's going to pay his cousins bail is ran over by cops who abuse their positions to seize his money while using a law called civil forfeiture (assets can be seized from people who are suspected of involvement with crime or illegal activity without necessarily charging the owners with wrongdoing.) what follows is one mans crusade for justice & vengeance.
Pros
Aaron Pierre holds his own against the acting heavyweights like Don Johnson & David Denham, plays his character with conviction, relatability, great one liners and those eyes. ladies must be going mad for him.
Don is a great villian ive not really seen him in bad guy roles. Don's character is a master manipulator and leads the troops. he has abit of compassion but only after it goes bad.
this is essentially a movie that can happen in real life, using a real life law that affects Americans every day i can safely say is brilliant. as is a motive caused by the economy of the place its set.
the movie is essentially what if someone who is another version of a John Wick didnt kill anyone but used non lethal means to subdue his enemies.
a few twists none that really surprise me.
Cons,
not much else stands out acting wise youre either in on it or youre against them. not much room for anything else
it is weird that Terry's cousin died and he doesnt want to do anything until Summer is drugged.
The action doesnt really start until the last 45 minutes, the rest is just psychological warfare
too much misdirection to the point you can kinda guess where the next scene is going and how its going to go
Honestly the trailer made me excited to watch it but it isnt as action packed as i thought it would be given i thought it would be another version of John Wick.
verdict
its not a bad movie but for me its not what i was expecting. youd only want to watch this if you want to see Arron Pierre before he stars in Lanterns as Jon Stewart. otherwise there is others to watch.

Bowdrie "Bo" (Mel Gibson) lives off grid in the woods of Oklahoma with his daughter Tag (Sofia Hublitz) 1 day Tag finds a very badly beaten girl called January. who is beaten by "the Brotherhood cartel" which has ties to a very bad man called Ajelandro (Jordi Molla)
Pros
its a decent movie
Mel Gibson while not as Porter as he can be is still good in the role of a father caught in a bad situation honestly he is the only reason you'd watch this movie well maybe Jordi Molla too
Jordi Molla eclipses Johnny Tapia from Bad Boys 2 with someone who gives Anton Chigurh a run for his money
big shoutout to Oliver Trevena who is just a brilliant psycho to the point i was worried
there is genuine tension in the movie throughout
the last 50 minutes are worth the watch
do love the fact that Mel Gibson is unhinged in alot of this
cons
i dont think i'll go "he was better then that one or that one"
it doesnt push the envelope so to speak
it is slow which seems to be a habit in movies recently
If Mel Gibson wasnt in this movie im not sure it would do well or anyone would care

$30–40m>$36.3m Y N N N/A lame but for Jodie Disclaim Worth a watch
Plot
based on a book by Danny Lyon, it follows the lives of the fictional Vandals motorcycle club from 1965-1973. and focuses on one Benny Cross (Austin Butler.) who must choose between the club led by Johnny Davis (Tom Hardy) or the woman known as Kathy (Jodie Comer)
pros
the 3 main leads are what you expect of them Tom Hardy being a tough ass Austin Butler showing off something other then singing & Jodie Comer showing why she is held in such high regard.
cinematography brillaint
music is brillaint
i like the message of something you create becomes something you don't recognise
cons
Michael Shannon & Norman Reedus sre used for cameos which is a waste.
plot is thin
based on a book so not much leighway like i always say
so anyone joining a club has a reason to do it. But aside from bikes did they run away did they have a love of bikes what?
feels like 110 minutes was alot for what we got
it dies get boring in some places because it's so slow
it doesnt have the detail of Sons of Anarchy which is what i was hoping there would be.

pros
Big plus is Idris,
the comedy & one upsmanship is pretty good,
its a fun watch with enough to keep us occupied
cons
John Cena is John cena was Dave Bautista not avalible?

Plot
Edie (Samara Weaving), a former teenage getaway driver, becomes unformer when she has to save her ex boyfriend (Karl Glusman) who Edie describes as well i cant describe it but its worse then worse. by being a getaway driver for a casino heist.
Pros
the only reasons youd watch this movie is for the following reasons
the dependable Samara Weaving, her talent, vulnerability & comedy is the only reasons youd watch this movie. as well as the driving sequences well what there is
Cons
Karl Guisman's John makes you realise that there are somethings that are not worth saving,
Andy Garcia is far from Terry "Congratulations youre a deadman" Benedict as you can be here.
just doesnt match up to other movies in the same genre
verdict
this doesnt have the fun of a Gone in 60 seconds or the excitement of Bullitt. put it this way in a samara Weaving marathon this will not be making an appearance

My review of Sinners
Plot
Clarksdale Mississippi 1932, war veterans & identical twins Elijah "Smoke" and Elias "Stack" Moore (Michael B Jordan) return from Chicago, buy a sawmill & turn it into a juke house or Barrelhouse. All the while something sinister is on the horizon & i dont mean Stack's ex girlfriend Mary (Hailee Steinfeld.)
Pros
aside from making my fiancee happy by having 2 Michael B Jordans in the same movie. Jordan i wont admit he's flawless in it but the fact he can play 2 brothers and keep their mannerisms separate without overlapping is brilliant
Heel Hailee Steinfeld where the blue hell have you been all my life. please please be the villain more often i loved her so much in this
the rest of the cast noone put a foot wrong all movie Delroy Lindo, Omar Miller Jack O'Connell Wunmi Mosaku just brilliant.
right anyone who says its not like From Dusk to Dawn is suffering from Bullshitonitis. why is it familiar half of the movie is setting up the location & the characters the other half is the supernatural element. aload of people are holed up in a building with forces wanting to get in & kill them. but i would like to ask Ryan Coogler why The Faculty is an inspiration cause i see nothing of it that reminds me of it.
the suspense is none existant in the first half then amped upto max in the last half.
the music OMFG the music is absolutely dare i say intoxicating as a man who loves music from that part of America i wasnt disappointed big thumbs up to Ludwig Goransson.
A horror movie must not spare on the blood here it does not.
the eyes of all the vampires are shit scary
as far as horror movies go all major rules are followed.
cons
it is abit too silly at times but that is a minor spot on the brilliance that is this movie
Verdict 1 of the best horrors ive seen in a very long time. Jordan is brilliant Steinfeld reminds me of how menacing she can be like she was in True Grit & the movie is worth watching just for the music. a future stand in the Film Registry

Swiped
My review of Swiped
Plot
it tells the story of Whitney Wolfe Herd (Lily James) through her journey from young woman with a dream to becoming the founder and CEO of Bumble,
Pros
Lily James is like Jennifer Lawrence whatever the movie she makes it worth watching even if its total garbage.
Soundtrack from La Rue to the classic "Hello" from Martin Solveig to "Get Lucky" from Pharrell & Daft Punk.
the last half an hour is where the movie is best.
the first & last 25 is where we see Lily shine brightly & why she is a star.
the rest of the movie is hard hitting, unforgiving, which is meant to reflect the point of view of the situation & my god it is uncomfortable viewing but that is the point
Cons
i dont mind a based on a true story but this is no social network, the only reason id watch this again if i even did would be for Lily James.
the problem with based on a true story is there is no room for making a scene better or the dialogue better but they both suffer immensely.
its meant to be based on a true story but it follows the Michael jackson movie problem, there is an NDA involved so its all guess work.
This is just another different version of product placement. btw Where Whitney meets her husband in the movie is not where she met him in real life. Its basically plugging Bumble like War of the Worlds plugged Amazon air & i dont need product placement movies anymore then i need unnecessary movie sequels that had no need to be made.
Also everything in this movie is written to be in the movie. ive never been on Bumble not had to but is Bumble as friendly as the movie says it is or is it just an opposite equivalent of Tinder? that is the question i need answering & if anything this movie leaves me with more questions then answers?
Verdict,
Its ok but nothing i'd want to bother with even if Lily makes it worth watching

Conclave
Jeopardise each representative. them being Aldo Bellini (Stanley Tucci,) Joshua Adeyemi (Lucian Msamati,) Joseph Tremblay (John Lithgow) & Goffredo Tedesco (Sergio Castellitto.)
Pros
i dont know enough about religion to comment on that but i will comment on the film.
It is really brilliant.
Music well its brilliant on par with something a Chris Nolan collaborator would come up with.
so much suspense & tension in the movie and coupled with the music it makes it unbearable.
plot twists didnt see it coming (havent read the book)
the acting is well sublime highlighted by Ralph Fiennes oscar worthy performance as Cardinal Lawrence.
i would recommend this to anyone who wants a good movie.
The accuracy in this movie has been praised by many
its very intelligent movie
the final twist is memorable
The new pope Pope Leo XIV watched it shortly before his 2025 conclave as did other cardinals who wanted to know how it worked and might play out that is cool
Cons

ELEVATION
My review of Elevation
Plot
After massive apex predators called Reapers emerged from underground sinkholes in the earth and began exterminating humanity, with 95% killed in the first month. the only thing that saves us is the fact the Aliens cant go above 8.000 feet high. (so anything higher then The canadian Rockies & El Capitan.) which is where Humanity survives somehow in communities. 1 such community is Lost Gulch Refuge in Front Range, Colorado, is home to haunted by the death of his wife Will (Anthony Mackie) and his son Hunter (Danny Boyd Jr.) who has lung cancer. Will realizes he is running low on oxygen filters for Hunter & having no choice. Heads below 8000 feet to get more filters witht he help of scientist who killed his wife Nina (Morena Baccarin) & best friend Kate (Maddie Hasson.)
Pros
So i like that despite the near enough eradication of the human race, we do survive but we are forced to survive in the mountains above 8.000 feet.
i like its not all candles and baubles
Anthony Mackie substitutes his Sam WIlson persona for a broken widower who holds a grudge against Morena Baccarain's scientist Nina who he blames for his wifes death. but is forced to head below 8.000 feet having no choice. which is refreshing.
same with Morena she is as un Morena as you can get.
So you have many things to deal with Survivors guilt, you cant go back to normal civilisation
its about as anti technology as you can get and everyone goes by until their end.
So It is refreshing to see Mackie play the opposite of Sam Wilson,
the tension in this movie at multiple points is really unbearable.
the music too just adds to it,
you feel there is trouble brewing in every scene whether its from reapers or the humans themselves.
the end credits show where the future of the franchise is going.
cons
id call it awkward at times
the ending is predictable with the just when you think the hero is gone,
the thing that equals the battle out happens.
the ending is like a movie cliche all the beatings throughout the movie level out at the end.
Not sure of the repeatability

Cons

everything is shit,
Its uncomfortable both writing & for songs
movie is so cringe its like a 50 year old dating an 18 year old.

Crime 101
My Review of Crime 101
Plot
Current day Los Angeles Mike Davis (a sharp suited Chris Hemsworth) is a jewel thief who carefully plans his robberies without violence & doesnt leave any DNA or anything that can be traced back to him. while always escaping via route 101 (hence the 101 in the title.) his next & final target is $11m in cash & diamonds. which he will be helped by broken high end insurance broker Sharon (Halle Berry) who wants a $3m share for helping. Only problems, Mike will have to avoid capture by LAPD Detective Lou Lubesnick (Mark Ruffalo) & a rival thief who is a volatile young biker Ormon (Barry Keoghan)
pros
All the main stars are brilliant a going against type Chris Hemsworth, a helpful Mark Ruffalo & an Halle Berry who is broken. not forgetting a more psycho then Duke Shelby Barry Keoghan.
music is pretty decent just non stop tension & dread.
chases are ok when there are any.
cons
it is a severe slow burn for a movie like this. Gone in 60 seconds was 1 hour 45 and it had room for everything chases, romance, action this kinda feels like it couldve been over in 3/4s of that 2 hours 15.
writing isnt great but then again what movie is
Monica Barbaro's Maya feels like eye candy to fill a portion of the movie and holds no real substance. i do like Monica but i feel for her like i did for Rebecca Hall in Iron Man 3. great talent stuck with a wasted character.
for a crime caper there is only about 4 in the entire movie.
not enough chases.
too many things like why, just for example Chris is meticulous but when a guy shoots his window out and possible DNA to go with it. He covers it and leaves it instead of burning it and its not as if he doesnt have money to replace it.
Nick Nolte is meant to be the head honcho, the guy who does the deals but where is he after the first hour?
verdict
i do like this movie but the problem is its too long, not enough thieving parts in it, not enough action, not enough this not enough that its just a movie that should be enough but its just not enough. but watch it once for definite.

Lead sniper Elliott Miller (Cosmo Jarvis,) Gunner Tommy (Kit Connor,) Sniper Frank (Taylor John Smith,) USMC captain "Mac" Macdonald (Michael Gandolfini,) USMC sargeant Laerrus (Adain Bradley,) Petty Officer Sam (Joseph Quinn) & 2 Iraqi interpreters Farid (Nathan Altai) & Sidar (Heider Ali)
Note
This was my first proper premier so it'll always be special for me
Pros
there is 3 moods to this movie, the intro where the lads are having their last bit of fun the mission where they're just observing and calm and then the last hour where they're just absolutely in the shit constantly. so you have chill time before you are glued to the movie
its all based on real life experiences with Ray Mendoza the director the man who was there as well as others.
it is completely and utterly unforgiving & uncomfortable with action aplenty, blood gore and missing parts of the body while being set on fire and screaming in agony.
set in real time so everything is seen as the real operation went
the characters go through the whole range of emotions not just one
cons
sometimes the radio messages go too quickly and you dont get chance to listen to all of them
writing cause no movie is perfect but its a war movie what did you expect.
No time to explore the backstories but i suspect that is by design
loud bangs, gunfire, shouting screaming blood gore, if you dont like these, not for you.

pros

Plot
In a future where crime got to the point where AI judges allow defendants to defend themselves in 90 minutes & if they dont prove their innocence, they die. Well unfortunately the latest defendant is LAPD detective Chris Raven (Chris Pratt) who is accused of murdering his wife Nicole (Annabeth Wallis.) He is given the same 90 minutes as everyone in front of AI Judge Maddix (Rebecca Ferguson)
Pros
i do like it, i like the premise and the fact that life might imitate art sooner rather then later is always abit worrying & makes it more endearing
has the feeling of buried until it didnt.
the back & forth between Ferguson & Pratt is engaging
the ending has a twist i didnt see coming
the only good action there is is at the end
Cons
But it feels that this is a movie that has bits of other movies scrambled together to make something you watch once then forget about?
why is Chris Pratt in this? what happened to someone who is more performance orientated then giving it to Chris "Im in everything" Pratt.
Execution of it is not as good as it should be
can anyone prove themselves innocent in 90 minutes? i cant prove myself innocent in 5 minutes

Gabriel then swaps his life with his former rich employer Jeff (Seth Rogen) to show him that money doesn't solve all his problems. Only problem is..It has solved all his problems. So how will Gabriel undo this all the while having his wings clipped?
Pros
Soundtrack is great
Keanu is good his comedic timing is brilliant
the 3 leads work well together
Love Keke Palmer & no there is no Sean Evans in this movie.
cons
Aziz isnt my type of comedian
Seth Rogen is Seth Rogen do i need to say anything else
im pretty sure this is the type of movie where you take the piss out of 1 & boast about the other.
the writing is abit 1 dimensional.
the plot is easy enough.
Everything falls flat after about half way.
if i was in Arj's shoes, then i became a millionaire & i was asked to go back, why would i? why would anyone? it only answers it with those around you suffer while you enjoy but to some that isnt an answer.
i was expecting alot from this movie but it barely delivers on anything
the best bits are in the trailer always the sign of a shit movie Hello Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance.

The Long Walk
My review of The Long Walk
Plot
Set in an alternate crippled US in the 1970s where a boy from each US state compete in "The Long Walk" a yearly televised contest where the participants must maintain a speed of 3 mph of non stop walking. main rules are you get 3 warnings for not keeping the 3 mph. on your 4th, well you wont be walking at all. The winner will get a massive cash prize & a fulfilled wish. And you must all do this while being watched at all times by the Armies of the US, broadcast to the American people & overseen by the Major (Mark Hamill)
Pros
Let me start by saying Mark Hamill is absolutely brilliant as the major for the smallish time he's on camera.
all the young cast play their roles brilliantly
there's a mileometer so to speak so you know how long they've walked as well as the sights which is nice
we get an example of how the warnings work at 15 minutes.
you see how everyone reacts to it
the 4th warnings or executions are bloody
the more that die, the more the tension amps up
cinematography is brilliant
Cons
Based on a book so not much give on it
also im sure after 3 days of not really sleeping im sure their bodies would have given up long ago.
if the long walk is meant to bring stability to the american economy then why does it feel like its underused in this movie & by extension the book
ending is of the "is this really in the book" variety.

it's a movie that is literally a start & a finish. aside the crap ending, good acting, chemistry & a Joker giving speeches. its very good

Taylor Swift ERAS TOUR
My review of The Eras Tour movie starring Taylor Swift
Plot
It is a movie was filmed at the first 3 of the 6 total Eras tour shows at Sofi Stadium in 2023, everything in there you see is what you see in the shows. i know i went to one of her London shows at Wembley 2024.
Pros
The only thing you dont see is the supports.
it is 2 hours 45m of pure heaven and most important of all an emotional rollercoaster. i went through the emotional ringer when i went.
it helped plug a hole due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike,
T's production company struck a deal with AMC directly to show it no middle men involved so business genius
Beyonce was so impressed she released the Renaissance tour movie 6 weeks later & if Beyonce follows your business model. You must be onto something.
It is thoroughly enjoyable for Swifties & non Swifties alike
Repeatability is though the roof ive watched it alot
had so many happy memories every time i see it
Most importantly, as Eras tour tickets were in so much demand that even Dwayne Johnson couldnt get tickets. It meant those not fortunate enough to go could still watch it,
i loved the london show i went to
Cons
for those who arent Taylor fans its not for you
its not a traditional movie so those who want that wont want to watch it
Verdict
For those who have it was a time to relive one of the best nights they'll ever have. For those who didnt you get to experience nearly 3 hours of a moment you wont ever forget. honestly this is the concert to end all concerts.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare
My review of The Ministry of Ungentlemenly Warfare Starring Henry Cavill, Eiza Gonzalez, Alan Ritchson & Henry Golding
Plot
British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and a group of military officials hatch a daring plan with a group of individuals lead by Gustavus Henry March-Phillipps aka Gus (Henry Cavill) to neutralize Hitler's Atlantic blockade of German U-boats in Africa during World War II which will allow the US to join the war in Europe.
Pros
Its based on the real life operation postmaster which changed WW2.
Has the creme of british talent Henry Cavill, Alex Pettyfer, Cary Elwes, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Henry Golding, Rory Kinnear, Freddie Fox & Danny Sapani.
The introduction in the Atlantic ocean is brilliant comedically and action times to perfection.
Eiza Gonzalez's english accent i think is brilliant.
Action is good, abit light for a Guy Ritchie movie. Who was heavily involved in the movie.
Comedy is just gold,
Action with COD WW2 guns arent bad.
Music isnt bad although can someone tell Henry he's having too much fun in La Palma.
And yes someones nipples are attached to a car battery.
The introduction from Henry's Gus March-Phillipps about each of his team Is brilliant for example. "if we're going to try and sink a large ship we'll need Freddy "The Buzz" Frogman. He can swim across the channel with his feet tied together. admittedly he's a convicted arsonist and a terrible misery unless he's destroying something. But he's very good at blowing things up."
There is always dread & unforeseen circumstances which makes the movie better.
the rescuing of OE saboteur Geoffrey Appleyard from La Palma is quite funny & it also demonstrates what the characters are like how ingenius they are & how violent they are
the combat isnt bad
cons
The the middle is abit boring if there isnt any action which there isnt enough of.
Im not going to comment about whether its historically accurate or not thats what experts are for.
The Fernando Po scenes although crucial are abit meh.
Verdict
This won our surprising movie of 2024 and i gave it this intro "Ministry of ungentlemanly warfare you mix a Swedish (forgetting he was Danish) Jack Reacher and a posh Superman and you get a fun action movie that everytime I think of it I can't stop checking my nipples to see if a car battery is attached to it?" yes thats in the movie as well. it wont win awards but it will win your heart

BORDERLANDS
My review of Borderlands starring Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, Cate Blanchett & Jack Black
Pros?
The only good thing is the music involved Motorhead's Ace of Spades, Muse's Supermassive black hole & The Black Keys's Shine a Little Light.
i do know there's cons and we start with
The all star cast of Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Ariana Greenblatt, Jamie Lee Curtis & Jack Black and Eli Roth as director.
Well in the first 20 minutes ive had a weird someone who looks like Kevin Hart but not making jokes, an annoying robot that sounds like someone who should be Jack Black but isnt.
Ariana Greenblatt quickly making me forget that she was in infinity War & Ahsoka.
Cate Blanchett plays Lilith like her dad owns the movie and she can act anyway she wants so shoot anyone she wants waste all the ammo she wants and just act like she'd rather be anywhere else etc etc,
Janina Gavankar is just wasted here id rather watch her in Far Cry 4 Horizon Zero Dawn or Star Wars Battlefront 2.
if Halloween or True Lies was the high points of JLC's career, then this is whats known as career ending.
Florian Munteanu acts like someone punched him in the head too many times on those Creed movies.
The dialogue isnt what youd called a hoot.
The action feels like noone is even putting an effort in performances are over the top.
The games are rated R which is what the gamer base is used to. this is PG-13 so you have a huge discrepancy there thanks to some shitheads grand idea.
& the worst part. Craig Mazin you know the guy who wrote the tv series Chernobyl you know 1 of the most successful tv series of all time & co created The Last of Us you know the tv series that Alex Garland once said "Is on another level." well he wrote the original screenplay which was rewrtten 3 times. YOU REWRITE THE SCRIPT THAT CRAIG MAZIN WROTE ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME. then understandably he distanced himself from the project. which i dont blame him.
its unoriginal if i want someone to throw bombs everywhere id ask for the green or hobgoblin from spiderman
im not gonna comment on the accuracy of all the costumes and clothes cause you need someone who has played the games but if everything else has anything to go by then assume its all wrong.
btw dont let the trailer deceive you
And a moment of reflection big shame on me for picking this for 1 of my movie choices for 2024 but how was i to know it wasnt it was the exact opposite of what it should be and Arnold forgive me but id watch the Total Recall reboot at least that had 4 things going for it this barely has one so my advice avoid it like everyone avoided Super Mario Bros in the 1990s and dislike it on Amazon so you'll never have to be reminded what an abomination it is. S
Verdict
So in the trailer it plays ELO's Do Ya. so it goes Do Ya Do Ya want my love but it will never have my love cause if the things they did wrong so congratulations Lionsgate you fucked up There is so much wrong with this movie ive got so many words rushing into my head i cant get them all out and they're all in the same vicinity as Shit crap useless hopeless garbage you get the picture

HAVOC
My review of Netflix's Havoc starring Tom Hardy, Timothy Olyphant & Forest Whitaker
Plot
Cop Patrick Walker (Tom Hardy) isnt straight edge, spends long hours away from his family which causes the usual estrangement & is on the payroll of real estate tycoon Lawrence Beaumont (Forest Whitaker) Who's son Charlie (Justin Cornwell) is accused on murder. So with his partner Ellie (Jessie Mei Li) He sets out to sort the shit out.
Pros
So its a Gareth Evans movie so being a huge fan of the Raid and Raid 2 i was eager to see what he's done.
so it follows the usual Gareth Evans formula lots of bloodshed martial arts (but not as the usual.) gunfights deaths with unusual ways to kill people and over the topness. and as usual everything is quick. So yeah has all that,
Has Tom Hardy being a corrupt cop but also being a heroic cop
Timothy Olyphant looking youthful as he was in Justified.
action is chaotic but not chaotic you dont lose what is going on where.
The music keeps you in the moment,
Cons
I consider the Raid to be Evans's masterpiece. so unfortunately that is a problem for me.
was finished in 2021 but went through 4 years of reshoots (schedules & SAG-AFTRA allowed of course.) which havent helped it
Verdict
i cannot complain about the fights that being any and all fights. has Tom Hardy in the lead so you have a lead who is dependable but its not Evans's best & not the one of his i'd recommend.

Devil Wears Prada
My review of Devil Wears Prada or as i call it more exquisite then Gordon Ramsey's Scrambled Eggs.
Plot
Andrea "Andy" Sachs (Anne Hathaway) is a junior assistant along with first assistant Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt) to Miranda Priestley (Meryl Streep) the editor-in-chief of Runway magazine that is based in New York City. the movie follows their daily duties i think the words are "bowing to Miranda's every whim."
Pros
This film celebrates its 20th anniversary this year & why did i wait to watch it it is absolutely exquisite. its the making of 3 stars. Meryl Streep's most iconic role & proof she can lead a movie, Anne Hathaway showed she is ready for the big time & this movie was where Emily Blunt the star was born. Also big Kudos to Stanley Tucci who if you dont love him enough already you will after this.
the film has left a legacy that probably wont be replicated by any movie in the genre.
the comedy is brilliant,
the sarcastic comments from Miranda are stuff of legends.
not a man of fashion but i love all the fashion in this.
music catalogue is brilliant from KT turnstall to Madonna to U2 to jamorioquai
Cons
Its not everyones cup of tea tbh
Adrien Gernier is your typical Toxic other half & he starts off so well
Verdict
You cannot be a proper movie fan until you have watched this movie. it is a gem.

GreenLand.
Plot
An interstellar comet will pass Earth by, meanwhile the Garrity family comprised of son Nathan (Roger Dale Floyd) & estranged hubby & wife John & Allison (Gerard Butler & Morena Baccarin) are selected for the emergency shelter & must get to Robins AIr force base which will fly them to Greenland before the end of things as we know it.
Pros
Gerard Butler holds everything together well someones got to
special effects are good
this isnt in the vein of Armageddon or 2012 but it doesnt need to be or want to be
Cons
The whole "we gotta go" does get annoying after a while
there is too many plot holes to not get annoyed over & too much annoyances to say. (Alison acting the exact opposite a normal person would, litterally he said hed go to the car and come back, she couldn't even stay the place he left her.)
direction isn't great
script doesn't bring anything different to a genre overloaded with quality
i had watched this in the pandemic, good then not so great now and it hasnt aged well
2 hours for this is too much 90 minutes maybe is enough
there isnt enough carnage for an end of the world movie
Verdict
just ask me why would i watch this over Armageddon Independence day or Day after tomorrow, if anyone knows the answer tell me cause i don't.

Tomorrows review Greenland 2 Migration Or as i call it the sequel that is better cause it isn't hard to improve on Dog Shit
Greenland 2 Migration.
Plot
5 years after the human race was nearly killed off, the planet is in ruin, Electromagnet storms and earthquakes dominate the skies & the ground & it's more dangerous then living in Tornado alley. The Garrity family John Alison & Nathan (Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin & Roman Griffin Davis) made it to the Greenland bunker & live there. Until Greenland is wiped out thanks to Earthquakes & Tsunamis. So the survivors head southeast towards Europe & the unknown.
Pros
we get a "previously on" prologue narrated by Gerard Butler which he tells with pain & sounding like he just survived so if anyone hasn't watched the first movie, they can just go straight into it probably best tbh
Gerard Butler is just so good in it, he anchors the movie so well
Morena Baccarin's Alison is an example of how developed a character is
90 odd minutes is alot better then the 1sts 2 hours which was too long
great cinematography
Cons
logic is just out the window particularly as in this movie everything is short, food drink, fuel yet the movie makes out there is tons in abundance. like Nathan's case of diabetes which seems to have magically disappeared. you get the idea.
characters are nothing but disposable tools that we meet & you throw them away
direction isnt any better then the first.
writing while better isnt great.
you just end up not caring about anyone cause you dont care about anyone long enough to care about them.
Verdict
better then the 1st but then its not hard, so trust me when i say Day after tomorrow independence day or Armageddon is still better then this and both of them combined

The Smashing Machine
The film follows the life & career of MMA fighter Mark "Smashing Machine" Kerr (Dwayne Johnson) from 1997 to 2000.
(just note before you proceed. i know very little about MMA so i will not be commentating on that aspect just the movie.)
Pros
This is as about un Dwayne Johnson as you can get, he looks nothing like Dwayne no Dwayne Sense of humour he is a completely different man well deserving of his best actor oscar
Emily Blunt is Emily Blunt dependable reliable & like Dwayne she's as unEmily blunt as you can get
their chemistry is so brilliant to the point you would actually believe that theyre married.
i like how they've surrounded Dwayne with MMA guys like Ryan Bader & even boxing heavyweight Oleksandr Usyk. So not a movie as such but guys who understand how everything works to make it as authentic as possible
it definitely has that 90s feel as far as alot of things go. styling tech
Make up as far as Dwayne goes is brilliant to the point you wouldnt know who he is
we get the real Mark Kerr at the end & photos of real Mark & Dawn
It's raw unforgiving realism & so emotional
Benny Safdie does a good job as director
cons
im not gonna beat around the bush its not for everyone due to some scenes for lights or the savage nature of MMA.
it is slow paced
If you dont know who Mark Kerr is you will have more questions then answers
Does feel the fighting takes second pace behind the arguing.
Verdict
It's a tough watch but a good one & Dwayne & Emily both are worth weight in Oscar gold.
